There are many reasons for making coffee your new hobby, the main one being it is delicious. But coffee is so much more than just a hot drink in a mug, it has become a social trend. We are living in a world full of coffee addicts, connoisseurs, brewers and more.
Here are some reasons as to why making coffee a hobby in 2018 is a great hobby to have.
1. IT HAS HEALTH BENEFITS
It’s has recently appeared on the news that drinking coffee actually has some health benefits, 3 to 4 cups a day to be exact. This is music to our ears.
A team of British scientists carried out some coffee related research and found that drinking several cups a day can do more good than harm. It can be linked to lowering our risks of premature death, liver disease and heart disease. *3 cups a day keeps the doctor away* …… our new motto here at Open Coffee.
2. DISCOVER NEW INDEPENDENT COFFEE SHOPS
Making coffee a hobby, means you can explore the city a little more and the coffee shops it has in-store. Derry is full of independent coffee shops, particularly located within the city walls. The coffee shops in our city can take you from sitting along the riverfront gazing out at the view, to sitting on a sofa in a an old shirt factory surrounded by rails of vintage clothing and shelves of books.
3. COFFEE PICS MAKE COOL PICS
We are all social media savvy these days, and if you are indeed a coffee lover, you’re probably no stranger to taking a good old coffee picture for social media. Coffee pictures are cool, contemporary, and Instagram is usually flooded with them. In fact, when you search '#coffee' on Instagram over 80 million coffee related pictures show up, so if you ever need some coffee pic inspo, you know where to look.
4. IT’S SOCIABLE & DOESN’T COST MUCH
Coffee dates are definitely becoming a trend now, and rightly so. Not everyone want’s to go to the pub to meet with friends, or even go for food. Sometimes a simple cup of coffee on the morning commute to work or in the evening after a long day at the office is the perfect chance to catch up with friends, meet someone new, or chill out on your ownsome.
And you usually won’t pay anymore than 3 quid for one, making it a cheap hobby to have!!
5. IT WILL GET YOU UP OFF YOUR BUM.
It's no secret that a cup of coffee is a boost of energy, the go to drink when you're feeling tired, the key to helping people get up off their bums and get s*** done. According to the British Coffee Association caffeine is a mild nervous system stimulant - this means it improves your concentration and alertness when you are feeling tired or fatigue, hence why majority of coffee drinkers in this world make it the first thing they drink in the mornings. Or at night if you are a loyal Open Coffee customer of course, the coffee owls as we like to say.
